Barcode not found? How to add a product
The open databases behind Novaz hold millions of products, but new launches, store brands and regional items are sometimes missing. When that happens you can add the product yourself.
Add a product
- Scan the barcode. When it isn't found, tap Add this product.
- Take photos of the front of the pack, the ingredient list and the nutrition label.
- Check the details Novaz reads from the photos with text recognition, and fix anything it got wrong.
- Save — the product is ready, and scanning the barcode again opens it instantly.
Where your product is saved
Products you add are stored only on your iPhone and are usable right away. They aren't uploaded or shared with anyone.

- Why isn't a product in the database?
- The databases are built by volunteers, so coverage depends on what has been added. Very new products and small brands are the usual gaps.
- Do I need the internet to add a product?
- No. Text recognition runs on your iPhone, so adding a product works without a connection.
